PROJECT MANAGEMENT - 1 Day Course breakdown
Understanding Projects
Session Outline
Section 1.
First of all we all need to be on the same page, so we all have the same expectation and room to work. This is the role of the first section of the workshop. We also look to address the rationale for project failure within the learners environments, to help discover 'controls' for that later in the workshop.
Identifying the role of the project manager in relation to the other roles within the project is fundamental in managing the project to successful outcomes. Whether we have a project team 100's or just 1. The same rules apply to creating projects systems that everyone understands.
We break down the point of any given project, the true objective, and how we can use this as a control throughout the project to manage change and other potential pitfalls.
getting us in the best possible position to ask all the questions and challenge all that needs to be challenged before the project commences and the real work beguins.

Manage those expectations or those expectations will manage you. We look at the types of systems used across various projects to create a uniform language and understanding of what the project is designed to deliver. Including tools and techniques for rapid problem solving and ideation.

Planning projects
Section 3.
Now this really is where the project can be won and lot, in the planning. We explore a range of planning techniques to break down even the biggest of projects. We use practical activities to show the way we can manage all the variables of the project. Introducing learners to possible tools or software we can use int he process. This can be as simple as Excel, or expert project management software.
We also explore techniques and tools to improve the accuracy of estimation skills for both cost and time. These are the two bandits that often take our projects success. So improves estimation gets us closer to our budgets.
Managing a team of people that we are not directly responsible for managing can often become a barrier in project management, so this section explores ways we can manage those relationships and expectations for maximum outcomes. Various leadership skills and stories that will hopefully fast track the learners learning and give them real world advice they can use whilst starting up future or current projects.
